Caltagirone Editore Spa controls the publishing companies of Il Messaggero, Il Mattino and Il Gazzettino, leading newspapers in the in cities of Rome, Naples and Venice, respectively. It also publishes two local newspapers: Il Corriere Adriatico in the Marche region and Il Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia in the Salento area.
Incorporated in December 1999, the Company is listed on the Italian Stock Exchange since July 2000; through its subsidiaries it operates in the daily newspapers, free press and internet businesses with the aim of providing high quality local content for the local communities that it serves as well as a first-rate advertising medium for both local and national advertisers.
With around 5.6 million average daily readers, the publishing companies controlled by Caltagirone Editore Spa score at third place in Italy. In the free press segment, Leggo - a free national tabloid launched in 2001 - commands national leadership.
The group publishes the online versions of its titles: ilmessaggero.it, ilmattino.it, ilgazzettino.it, corriereadriatico.it, and leggo.it.


IL MESSAGGERO


Founded in 1878, Il Messaggero is one of the oldest newspapers in the country with strong leadership in Rome, the Lazio region and in Central Italy. The newspaper has 14 editions:
- one national edition
-13 local editions: Rome, Urban area, Ostia Litorale, Viterbo, Civitavecchia, Frosinone, Latina, Rieti, Pesaro, Ancona, Marche, Abruzzo, Umbria.
Il Messaggero is the 4th italian daily newspaper with more than 1,289,000 daily readers in 2007 and an average of 216,000 copies sold.


IL MATTINO


Founded in 1892, Il Mattino is one of the most representative newspapers of Southern Italy and strongly rooted in Naples and Campania. The newspaper has 9 editions:
- one national editon
- 8 local editions: Naples, Naples Northern urban area, Naples Southern urban area, Caserta, Benevento, Salerno and Avellino.
Il Mattino has a strong leadership in the Campania region and is amongst the first ten national newspapers with around 718,000 daily readers and 82,000 average copies sold in 2007.                                                                               

LEGGO


Founded in March 2001, Leggo has become the first Italian free newspaper with over 1 million daily copies distributed and over 2 million daily readers.
It is distributed from Monday to Friday in railway stations, underground stations, airports, bars, hospitals, universities and other meeting points. Leggo is distributed in 15 cities: Rome, Milan, Naples, Florence, Bologna, Turin, Venice, Padua, Verona, Genoa, Como, Varese, Bergamo, Brescia and Bari.                                                                            

IL GAZZETTINO DI VENEZIA

Founded in 1887, Il Gazzettino di Venezia is today the major daily newspaper in the North-East of Italy. It is among the top ten national newspapers with 92,000 average copies sold and around 681,000 daily readers in 2007.
The newspaper has 8 editions: Venice, Padua, Rovigo, Treviso, Belluno, Vicenza, Udine and Pordenone.                       
 

CORRIERE ADRIATICO

Founded in 1860, Il Corriere Adriatico is the market leader in the Marche region. It has 7 editions:
- one national
- 6 local: Ancona, Pesaro, Macerata, Fermo, Ascoli Piceno, San Benedetto with news, sport, comments and theme columns on.
In 2000 the newspaper started a technological innovation process by deeply restructuring its editorial content, which led to a more user-friendly format.
Il Corriere Adriatico has daily circulation in 2007 of around 20,000 copies and 343,000 average daily readers.                                                                                                                                                                                  

NUOVO QUOTIDIANO DI PUGLIA

Founded in 1979, Il Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia has rapidly become the most widely-read newspaper in the Salento area. From Monday to Saturday the newspaper is distributed on newsstands as supplement to the national edition of Il Messaggero.
Today it has 3 editions: Lecce, Brindisi and Taranto. Il Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia has daily circulation of around 20,000 copies and 277,000 average daily readers in 2007.                                                                                                                           

PIEMME

Piemme is the advertising agency for the Caltagirone Editore Group and it sells both print and online advertising spaces. Through its subsidiary Caltanet it promotes and manages the Group's internet activities offering in-depth coverage of events, news, surveys and reports. The websites offer broadcasting and mobile phones contents.
